The privilege of trials and tribulations – or the divine x-ray “examination”

Weird headline, isn’t it?
Why would it be a privilege to be in trouble?
Well, it is sort of what I came to find as GOD’s “logic” or HIS way of thinking or HIS way of deepening HIS relationship with us.
Not that I claim to know or understand how GOD thinks –  GOD forbid, that would be hubristic!
I don’t have any better words to put it – it is something I myself experienced as a result of seeking GOD, HIS face, of wanting to be closer to HIM, praying about it for a very long time… it may be different for you, my friend, but I also know that it is similar and an experience many brothers and sisters in Christ can relate to and I am hoping to make it a bit clearer to some of you by describing what I discovered.
Now if you ponder on this scripture:
Hebrews 11: 1-3
Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
For by it the elders obtained a good report.
Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
Basically, if you could clearly SEE the outcome or/ and your way out, you wouldn’t need to have faith in GOD.
If you could do it out of your own strength, you wouldn’t need HIM to help you, you wouldn’t call on HIM, you wouldn’t pray, you wouldn’t know or even RECOGNIZE that HE is greater than you and greater than anyone else on earth.
On the contrary, you would probably be more prone to believe that you yourself are the greatest –  and don’t we all know who wants us all to believe that we are…?
So let’s explore this a little further, there seems to be a pattern which many believers seem to be confronted with or experiencing.
At first, before we are saved, we realize that something isn’t right, we realize that we are in sin and that we need to change and come out of it and give our lives to JESUS.
That’s the first step for many (including me!) –  regardless if you think you are a Christian, before you have been convicted and repented and called on JESUS, you cannot be saved –  at least that’s what I came to believe, mainly because of where I am coming from:
I considered myself a Christian all my life only to discover that I had been serving the enemy without wanting to and without even knowing, out of ignorance, for many, many years!
So what happens next?
We get saved.
It’s the promise in:
Romans 10:13
Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord, shall be saved.
Right.
Done and dusted.
Right?
Wrong!
That’s when it starts to become really complicated – we thought it would all be over and we would live happily ever after, but the contrary is true!
Why is that?
#1 because the enemy doesn’t like to lose ONE soul which ever was in his claws and he will start fighting and attacking, whereas when we were his, he left us alone, because he knew he would get us one day…
#2 GOD will want to become more intimate with us – sounds like a good thing and it IS, BUT at the same time, it is also VERY, VERY hard work!
It means HE wants to change us, to sanctify us, to purify us and last, but not least, HE wants to know if we are serious!
And how can you find out if someone is serious?
Right, you TEST them!
WE ALL DO IT!
And GOD isn’t afraid to be tested either, HE even encourages us to test HIM and HIS word and to test every spirit –  the TRUTH can NOT be challenged!
GOD NEVER CHANGES!
HIS WORD is ALWAYS TRUE!
HE is 100% reliable.
ALWAYS.
In the past, today and in the future.
HIS promises are ETERNAL.
And it is what HE always did and always will do:
HE tests HIS people.
Job.
Abraham.
Even in the very beginning Adam and Eve.
And some passed the test and received their blessing(s) –  we even still benefit from the blessings of Abraham until this day – had Abraham not been obedient, who knows what GOD would have done?
The same with disobedience and failing the test.
Had Adam not given in to the temptation and had GOD not thrown them out of paradise, who knows, perhaps we would still all be living there every day?
Anyway… my point or my discovery is this:
GOD is only going to test your faith, if you ARE in a relationship with HIM, if HE is INTERESTED or WILLING to bless you, to take you to the next level!
Like with any other test.
Why would you test someone you are not interested in?
Why would you want to know if you can trust them and if their love or devotion is sincere?
Just out of curiosity?
Nah…
You can’t be walking around testing everybody – it is the beginning of the next stage of a relationship –  if they pass the test –  right?
It is a sign that you WANT them to pass, you want to trust them, want to believe they are for real!
Same with GOD – if your faith wasn’t tested, that would mean there was no relationship between you and HIM.
No need to test your faith in HIM if you ain’t having any, now, is there?
Why would HE test you if you always run to the devil and get yourself deeper into sin anyway?
HE wants to know if you will do something DIFFERENT!
If you will be able to stay strong and RESIST the devil!
I don’t know if that makes any sense…?
To me it does.
That doesn’t mean I like it though.
Matter of fact, I don’t like it at all and I don’t think anyone does.
Why can’t HE just believe in me?
Doesn’t HE love me?
Maybe because HE loves me!

WHATTT???

Remember when JESUS prophesied over Peter that he would deny HIM 3 times?
That’s Peter we are talking about!
One of the closest confidants of OUR LORD JESUS.
And JESUS knew what was going to happen.
Even Peter fell and failed the test.
Can I consider myself stronger in faith than Peter?
Would I be able to walk on water if JESUS called me?
Or would I faint and drown like him?
And if I was on a ship with OUR LORD, would I be afraid if a storm came, or would I be confident, without an inkling of a doubt at all times?
And last question:
if I hadn’t been tested, would I even know how strong my own faith really IS?
I believe HE is not doing this for HIM.
Because HE is GOD.
HE knows everything.
HE knows us better than we know ourselves.
I believe it is for US.
A process we have to go through to develop and discover our own faith.
And when the result comes, the “expected end”, we can and must be 100% certain that it wasn’t us or “luck” or “skills” or anything but GOD.
GOD got us out.
GOD had our back.
So sometimes, things have to get really messy… so that WE SEE that only HE could have solved this, only HE could have made a way.
Have you experienced something similar, my friend?
Can you relate to this?
I am curious…
Do you have a story to share or something to add or to correct?
Or a testimony?
If you do, please let us read about it in the comments below.
And other than that, as usual, I hope this will inspire, heal and bless you.
And that THE LORD will bless you richly in all areas of your life, that HE will keep you and shine HIS face upon you.Always. In JESUS’ name I pray. Amen.
