Today on my path, there were many passages where I had to wander through forests. And because of the rain during the past weeks – like I said earlier, unfortunately, it has been raining for weeks! – many paths in the forests had turned into pure mud…
And some of the little brooks had turned into bigger ones, some even overflowing some of the paths…
To cut the story of the walk shorter than the walk itself, I had to wade through 3 little rivers today.
The first one was the deepest one.
But what can you do?
When you are carrying at least 20kg (some people who lifted my backpack claimed it must weigh much more, the highest number I heard was 40!! and some men(!!) couldn’t even lift or carry it at all😂) – anyway, enough bragging about how heavy my load is, but if you are carrying more than you can, especially when you are standing on one side of a little river you have reached after a long, difficult downclimb through the mud, then, turning around and going back is not an option. Or to say the least, it is not the option which comes to mind first!
So what can you do?
The good thing is, we Christians can always do something others can’t do or at least can’t do effectively:
call on THE LORD and pray.
Sometimes, I still forget about this option, but I am getting better at remembering.
So that’s what I did.
And HE told me I should wade through the water. That my feet would get wet, but other than that, nothing would happen and I would get to the other side safely.
So that’s what I did.
And that’s what happened.
After the first one, I realized it is just as simple as that.
You go where THE LORD leads you and when in a situation where you don’t know what to do or where to go, you ask.
And HE will help you.
Maybe it will not be the help you fancied.
If you are anything like me, you can recall all or many miracles from the bible and also, you will be able to imagine and believe that GOD will do the same in your life.
Unless HE won’t.
So HE didn’t part the water for me. Nor did I walk on it – my absolute favorite skill by the way!!! – my feet did get wet – but I found it quite refreshing to my own surprise, especially since there was a steep upclimb to be conquered afterwards – all 3 times! – and what also surprised me a lot was how the new walking boots I bought a couple of days ago truly did manage to expel the water quickly…
But what HE did for me instead was assure me once again that HIS word is true. And that I am capable of doing so much more than I believe I can do – with HIS help.
Not only regarding the load I am carrying on my way here or regarding how I got to the spot in the forest where I stand on one side of a river and there is no bridge, only me, my faith and my FATHER, this is true:
There is no going back.
I don’t know if you have been a Christian all your life, if you are still waiting to be saved (the only possible description of life I know if you are not a Christian!) or if you are a newborn, 1 minute old baby brother or sister in CHRIST…
I am sure you will agree, will not know anything like it, I simply KNOW you know that OUR FATHER’s love is the real deal, the only REAL and TRUE love and once you have found it, felt it, seen it, there is absolutely no way you could possibly go back to where and how and who you were before.
It is not about the efforts or hardships of going back to where and who you were, it is so ridiculous, seems so shallow and empty now looking back – doesn’t it?
What if your feet get a little wet every once in a while…? Me, I didn’t really like it, even though it was less unpleasant than I thought it would be – yet, I don’t even remember what I liked there or what kept me “there”(with there I mean my life not truly knowing THE LORD and not even knowing that HE wasn’t in my life), so why would I even consider going back?
Nothing I want or dream of or fancy or long for or desire is “there”.
Maybe it takes a set of wet feet to see it as clear as the water from a forest stream…
I am grateful.
For this demonstration today. For this ice cold truth and for the warm, cozy love and for the peace….. the peace which is incomparable, worth walking through the water for, worth waiting for, worth climbing, searching and suffering for.
There is only one way: forwards. Away from the wrong path. Away from the past, the old life. Forwards towards where HE wants us to go, towards who HE wants us to BE. Towards HIS peace.
I hope and pray that this would heal, inspire or amuse you, my friend. And that THE LORD may bless you richly in all areas of your life, and that HE may keep you and shine HIS face upon you. In JESUS’ name I pray. Amen.
